All About The Orchard Audio Valencia Headphone Power Amplifier (HPA) …
Valencia was designed with three clear purposes…
- Be the world’s first dedicated balanced headphone power amplifier.
- Be one of the world’s cleanest measuring headphone amplifiers.
- Be one of the most powerful headphone amplifiers available today.
The Valencia headphone power amplifier is a compact, high-performance amplifier. Designed for discerning audiophiles, recording professionals, and music lovers who refuse to compromise, it delivers exceptional resolution, lifelike dynamics, and effortless control across every genre. Powered by massively parallel high-current class-AB buffers, it delivers speed, precision, and transparency into any headphone from 16Ω to 600Ω. Its advanced proprietary fully balanced architecture unlocks a level of clarity and musicality that redefines what’s possible from an amplifier of its size.
What Makes the Orchard Audio Valencia HPA Special?
What truly sets it apart, though, is the independent linear regulator for each channel, each with a 1000uF rail capacitor. This reservoir provides effortless dynamics, rock-solid bass authority, and extraordinary stability under demanding loads.
Here’s a snapshot of the key performance highlights:
- 17W into 32Ω / 3.24W into 150 Ω — will drive any imaginable headphone
- 7W into 8 Ω — Valencia will drive high-sensitivity loudspeakers
- 1.2A peak current and output impedance of 0.02 Ω – for extremely demanding headphones
- Fully balanced signal path from input to output for ultra-low noise and ultra-clean amplification.
- Compact footprint (9.5ʺ × 9.25ʺ × 3ʺ) makes placement and installation easy.
This combination of power, precision, and practical design makes the Valencia a standout choice in today’s crowded headphone amplifier market. It isn’t just about raw watts — it’s about how those watts translate into musical realism.
Designed for Real-World Music Lovers
While some high-end gear prioritizes looks and/or specs over musicality, Orchard Audio’s approach balances both. The Valencia’s Class-AB design delivers extremely low noise, combined with low distortion and impressive transient response — giving you exceptional clarity and control.
Because it’s fully balanced from input to output and built with state-of-the-art components, the Valencia doesn’t just produce power — it preserves the nuance and texture of your recordings. Reviews and listening reports highlight its ability to bring out micro-detail, soundstage, and layering in music that can get lost in lesser amps.
Whether you’re listening to jazz, classical, rock, or electronica, this amplifier stays composed and musical through complex passages.
How the Orchard Audio Valencia HPA Fits Into Your Audiophile System
The Orchard Audio Valencia is designed to integrate smoothly with balanced preamplifiers and sources. Orchard Audio intentionally focused on balanced XLR connectivity to maintain signal integrity, but an RCA-to-XLR converter is readily available if needed.
CAUTION: Valencia is strictly a power amplifier; the user must provide external volume control.

The valencia has ran all of my headphones, especially my high impedence headphones and mainly my planars and thats with my volume knob not even close to 50%. If your looking for a end game headphone amp and just want to swap out different dacs this is worth it in the end. For me though the reason i want to leave this review is because of the company and the community for it, they have been so welcoming and helpful whenever you need it and i think that means more than just the product.

I’ve had Valencia for a few months now and it is everything I had heard it would be. Tons of power for the most demanding headphones, dead silent noise floor, and excellent build quality.
I’m currently using it for my hard to drive SJY Umi and Fostex T60RP 50th Anniversary primarily but it handles my collection of ZMF high impedance just fine. My backordered Modhouse Tungsten are the primary long term setup with Valencia.
I also use it to drive my bookshelf speakers which it has problem with and they sound great!

The most clean sounding amp! Love comparing different headphones with this amp. Great for classical orchestral music when paired with a good pre-amp and DAC

To put it simply: this one unit “upgraded” my whole collection. It works as an interface to pairings i have always wondered how would they sound, but was not able to do it. Tubes and power hungry planars are now withing reach and i am introduced to sides of my gear i wasn’t aware of before.
Flawless.

Do you own a pair of headphones that need a lot of oomph to drive them? Do you already own something with (good) volume control? Then this is your perfect solution. I own a pair of hard to drive planar headphones that my current source gear struggled to drive. Even using an RCA -> XLR cable, this power amp is capable of driving my headphones with room to spare. Leo answered all of my questions immediately, will be coming back the next time I need any source gear.

I love the form factor and the design of the Valencia.
I thought it was a really great amp overall. It was super transparent and seemed to pass on the tone and sound of whatever preamp was feeding it, but add huge amounts of power, enough to drive any headphone. It was interesting getting XLR adapters and driving it with the headphone out of my Stratus, it wound up with the tone of my Stratus!
My complaint and the deal breaker about it for me was that it seemed to have issues projecting sound. I’m not obsessed with soundstage at all, but comparing the Valencia to other amps, with the valencia I felt like I could hear exactly where the drivers were and the sound coming from that specific place. With other amps, the sound sort of took on images an locations of their own and the drivers dissappeared. I really didn’t’ like this effect, but I loved everything else about it.
That being said, I don’t have a tube based balanced actual preamp (only SE) and so never got to try it like that and i think that would be ideal.
I love the out of the box thinking on this amp and it makes me think great things are coming from Orchard Audio even if this was just short of being a total win for me.

Amazing Headphone Power Amp that I can feed all my other amps into through switcher boxes and then I just got one device I got to plug into that can power any of my headphones but then it doesn’t color the sound so all the amps I feed into it still sound how they would sound and has just made it simple cause now I can use any headphone with any amp cause it all goes through the Valencia. Great device.

I think Zeos called the Valencia a magnifying glass into your system (or something like that). Anyway, that’s exactly what I think the amp is.
I bought it to use as an amplifier for the Tungsten. The Tungsten probably won’t arrive until next year, but the Valencia is already here, so I’ve been testing it with other gear. I tried these devices:
DAPs
The iBasso DX340 is a great choice.
Sony NW-WM1Z
The Lotoo Mjölnir
Preamplifiers
Holo Bliss
Feliks Euforia
Cen. grand DSDAC
The Valencia was more precise, clearer, and had more air across all devices. But this effect wasn’t the same for everyone. It also had negative effects depending on the headphones or IEM.
DX340: rather cool, improved stage
Sony: simply improved everything
Lotoo Mjölnir: perhaps the biggest disappointment, I wouldn’t buy the Valencia for the Mjölnir. It seems that the line out of the Mjölnir is too bad.
Bliss: This will be my new reference system. Everything the Bliss does is even better.
Euforia: I’ve only tested it with the EE Odin and unfortunately it has a lot of background hum.
CEN: I’ve also only tested it with the Odin and it hisses like the Euforia.
You can use an IEMatch from iFi to counteract the humming and noise. But I think it takes a little away from Valencia’s charm.
Overall, the Valencia is a huge profit in my system, and I’m excited to try it out with other devices.

When you plug in your headphones to this amp, you can feel it take an iron grip onto the magnets in your drivers. This amp has such great control of your headphones. It can deliver huge bass while delivering delicate details of the treble simultaneously if the track calls for it. As a gear head, I will always want to buy new amps, but this amp genuinely has me thinking I never need to. The amplification stage in my rig is solved.
Currently I have the Schiit Mjolnir 3 and Folkvangr hooked up to a switcher going into this amp. The Valencia is able to deliver its power and control while passing on the characteristics of each of my amplifiers. The pounding attack of the Mjolnir and the sweet softness of the Folkvangr still come through, just along with a new sense of sonic resolution and definition of soundstage that they didn’t have before.
All of my headphones have been taken to a new level. DCA Expanse and E3 are amazing, HD800S is a amazing, and Fostex TH909 sound like they never had before. The 6XX continues to scale higher than it has any right to.
Thanks to Valencia, the “headphone bass” issue is solved. I love my subwoofer, but I cant listen to it all the time. Through Valencia, the bass experience still hits hard. Like, “I didn’t know my 6XX and HD800S could reproduce bass like this,” hard. Through bassier headphones like my Expanse and TH909, I can feel the beginnings of chest thumping bass happening in my skull.
The Valencia is just an amazing amp, and probably the best audiophile purchase you could make. Thumping bass, clear mids and treble, all while delivering a defined soundstage. This amp does it call and it does it all simultaneously

Oh my god where do I start! This is a very good product from first still in testing stage and now I’m going through all my headphones and iems testing and getting very excited at the same time. I’ve hooked up the Valencia to sms vmv D2 dac and I can say I’m very pleased with the sound. The amp is very quite and does not run hot which I love very much. I’m the wiim pro steamer which is doing a very good job. I bought this because I’m now having new headphones that require at lot more power example. Mod house argon mk3 which I like but was not impressed by it until I’ve used it on my Valencia which has blown me away. I love how the sennheiser 6xx and 800s sounds. This amp allows me to test and dap or dac even tubes amp as I’ve also got ta-32 sitting here and haven’t tested as of yet
All I can say that they have really knocked it out of the park on this amp. This is the third product I have purchased from this manufacturer and this is my favourite their streamer is also a good product as well. They have never let me down with their first class service. Thanks

This amplifier is so powerful I use a Violectric V281 as a preamp. This brings my bass-boosted planars to a whole new level of clarity and punch. It works brilliantly with the Final Audio D7000, the Dunu Arashi, and the Audeze LCD-2.

Orchard Audio Valencia
Orchard Audio Valencia is a fantastic headphone amplifier for almost all use cases. It stays true to your chain while simply making the music come more to life. To my ears, it added better separation and layering while not effecting the sound signature of my chain. This combination made the music feel more life like; truly a holographic feeling, as well as being emotional. The only true negative I have is that you can hear a very sharp sound when the sample rate changes regardless if you implement a delay. This sharp sound was especially apparent for sensitive gear. For obvious reasons, the Valencia is not for IEMs, and I still do not recommended using them even with an impedance adapter like the iFi imatch.
Headphones & Equipment;
– Final Audio D7000 (headphone)
– Abyss Diana MR (headphone)
– Focal Clear MG Pro (headphone)
– Unique Melody MEST MK3 (IEM)
– SMSL VMV D2R (dac)
– SMSL VMV P2 (pre amp) (not needed)
– Ddhifi (interconnects / usb)
– iFi Audio (silencer)
– Roon (streaming from desktop)

Hello. Thank you very much for your feedback. Please note that this sharp sound you are hearing is not coming from Valencia, this is from your source gear. Valencia will only amplify what is there nothing else.

Coming from Schiit Midgard Amp and Fiio K11 R2R Dac, I don’t usually write reviews for products since very few things in life are perfect but this is scarily life-like in it’s power and transparency. I can hear sub-bass in headphones I originally thought had none, the only nitpick I have with this is no single-ended output because I only use under 200 gram closed back headphones for my daily driver and the only ones on the market comes with attached cables but that’s a very niche issue. There is no flaw with anything here, the power button feels amazing to click, love the build and the bonus speaker outputs. 10/10

I’ve been listening to this amp for the past few hours, and I think I’m ready to write my review. This is my first (and most likely last) amp over 500 dollars I’ve ever bought or heard and honestly, I seriously doubt I’d ever need anything else. The sound is crystal clear. It has more than enough headroom for anything you throw at it. For the first time, I could kinda tell the difference between the modes on my dac. It really shines a spotlight on not only your chain, but the recording quality of your music, you better not have a song you like that was recorded poorly! This amp is extremely revealing. I seriously recommend this if either you have extremely hard to drive headphones or you just don’t ever want to spend money on an amp again!

My primary use has been with a Schiit Freya S with HEKv2 which is a hard to drive planar headphone. For source I’ve connected to a Geshelli J2 DAC with upgraded op-amps and the Valencia can pass on all the subtle details with thumping base. I’m preferring the passive mode with pre-amp, but with a record player attached tubes can help muddy the sound in a good way that makes that dusty crackle sound right at home. If you want a high powered headphone amp then I can recommend this one, gives you some clean power in a nice industrial style box.

Power is an understatement with this amp. However, the control this amp it has to drive headphones is awesome. This amp will reveal everything in your chain. Picking your source and method of preamp will make distinct changes in sound as this amp doesn’t really have a sound but it’s sound is reflected by the gear before it. One setup I used was a Topping A90D/D90D stack into the Valencia driving an Abyss Diana TC. This represented a very clean and pure setup. The Diana TC played with great contrast in the signal having quiet darks which I found is usually the challenge with most headphone amps especially with this amount of power. Overall with this setup, it gave a look of what the signal really is. Nothing exaggerated or boosted, if the mix/mastering of the song is not perfect, it will reveal it and might not be the most pleasant to hear. A different setup I used was using the same DAC but the preamp is now using a stereo preamp which is my Symphonic Line RG3. This helped smooth out a lot of the hot top end and brought the vocals a bit more forward than using the A90D. The sub bass on this amp is ever so slightly lighter than my Dyanco ST35 but it’s something that you have to really search for to notice. I believe what’s hard to review about this amp is that it’s not really a review of the amp’s sound but what the amp can reveal about the rest of the gear. So it’s hard to describe the usual bass, tambour, mids and treble since this amp plays whatever the input signal is with whatever control the previous chain had on it. But that’s where this amp can be really fun to play with.
Since this amp is so revealing with lots of power, you can play around with some unconventional setups and have lots fun to drive the harder to drive headphones. Hook up a tube preamp or headphone amp that has a pre out and drive a Tungsten or 1266. If there’s any 2 channel gear you want to hear with headphones, this would be great for that. So in a way, you can use this as a tool to safely try different setups that you wouldn’t think of. I think thats what truly makes this amp fun a high recommendation from me.
Depending on the sensitivity of the headphones and the noise some other gear may produce, there might be some hum or noise. So you might have to play around with filtering but in general, this isn’t too much of an issue.

I had the Valencia Prototype Amp for a couple of days and I gotta say. . . great job Leo cause holy crap this amp fits so well in my audio system. I don’t know how he did it, but this amp feels really similar to his speaker power amp, the Starkrimson Ultra 2. 0. By that, what I mean is that, just like the Starkrimson Ultra 2. 0, this Valencia amp is really really clean sounding and everything I put on it just sounds so clear and detailed from bass to treble. On top of being so clean and clear sounding, the Valencia really brings the best of bass out of my headphones. It could be because of the power rating since the Valencia is a beast at 15. 12W into 32 Ω. But the thing is, the Topping A70 Pro got power too and can drive my DCA Stealth nicely. But the A70 Pro sounds more polite compared to the Valencia when I use my DCA Stealth. The DCA Stealth is never really a visceral bass experience headphone, but the subbass on the DCA Stealth is phenomenal. The subbass can get bigger sounding on better gear. When I used the A70 Pro as a preamp to the Valencia, the Valencia sounds bigger sounding vs the A70 Pro as just a headphone amp. But when I try my Supratek Cabernet DHT Preamp connected to the Valencia, it’s a bigger sound than when the A70 Pro was used as a preamp. I think part of the reason is that the Supratek Cabernet DHT Preamp got a pretty high gain as a preamp and I can get louder on the Supratek than the A7 Pro, not that I need that. . .
Valencia deserves to be played on good gear. You can run it with the affordable Topping A70 as a preamp and it’s still really good to listen. But, man. . . to me it really scales up on my personal favorite gears.
For the DAC, I only have 1 DAC which is the Mojo Audio Mystique Evo B4B 21 (I have a HiBy R8ii DAP, but haven’t had the guts to connect that to Valencia yet). Its a big boy R2R DAC and what I really like about it is that it adds a hint of bloom in my audio chain.
Having a really good preamp feels really key on what the hell you are trying to plug into the Valencia amp. The Topping A70 pro is the minimum on what I want on a preamp for Valencia. It has a low gain and high gain, which is crucial if you want to drive sensitive gears like iem on the Valencia amp. Another thing I feel is minimum for a preamp, at least to me, is a remote controller. It’s because I became more of a speaker guy last year, and I don’t really have a dedicated desk to really put the Valencia and the preamp near each. Especially if my main preamp is something as big as the Supratek Cabernet DHT Preamp. Having a tube preamp paired with any of Leo power amp is just a treat. It’s because all his amps I tried just really are transparent and you just have a much easier time hearing the changes that were being made in your audio chain (I only own 2, which is the Starkrimson Ultra 2. 0 and now Valencia). A tube preamp is the ultimate tone control and the Supratek Cabernet DHT preamp lets me play with my 45/2A3 tubes and 6SN7 tubes to my heart’s desires. Just like the Starkrimson Ultra 2. 0, the Valencia just provides me a reliable clean beefy power to my headphones and all I have to worry about is what kind of tonality I’m in the mood for today. On top of being a really good tone control for my system, the Supratek Cabernet DHT preamp have a gain knob which is different from the volume knob. I can control how much gain I want instead of what most preamp have which is just a low gain and high gain button. I usually go around 50% gain knob and control the volume knob like normal on my iems like the 7th acoustic Supernova and the Jomo Audio Nautilus. Then for my non-sensitive gears like the DCA Stealth, Mysphere 3. 2, and Sennheiser HD580 Jubilee, I play the Supratek like normal on 100% gain and use the volume knob almost normal. I never have to go past 50% on the volume knob when I use the DCA Stealth which is really impressive because the DCA Stealth is a pretty hard headphone to drive. So yeah, feed the Valencia a really good preamp and it could pretty much drive anything. One caveat is that I do hear a very quiet noise when I drove the Nautilus iem with the Valencia with the Supratek preamp. I haven’t played with the gain knob more to see if I can get it completely noise free. But when I tried the A70 Pro as a preamp to the Valencia at low gain, it was pretty much noise free, easy. But the one caveat for the A70 Pro is that you can still hear music being played even when you turn the Topping A70 Pro all the way down on the volume knob. When I turned the volume knob all the way down on the Supratek Preamp, its silent. I guess maybe muting the A70 Preamp is better than turning the volume knob all the way down, but that feels more unsafe if I don’t remember to turn the volume down with the wrong gear. . . I am used to a preamp to a power amp chain so I always put the volume knob all the way down and just slowly turn the volume up as the music is being played. An all solid state chain will probably be the easiest route if you are looking for a noise-free experience and you got some serious sensitive iem you want to drive on Valencia, but its really hard to pass up on tone control with tubes as a preamp.
With my favorite gear in my audio chain, the Valencia amp feels right at home and just gives me a very familiar feeling just like when I listen to my speaker setup which also has an Orchard Audio power amp in the chain. And that feeling is audio bliss, happy listening everyone!

I’m having a hard time finding the right words for this so I apologize in advance if this gets a bit rambly.
I was fortunate enough to get a prototype Valencia a little over a week ago (same as the production unit just missing a few small tweaks) so I’ve had some time with it. I also got a pair of double-sided Tungstens a few days ago and I now feel like I can attempt to explain this amp a little better. Valencia is like a powerful magnifying glass for your audio chain, one that can bring every bit of detail that your music, dac, amp and whatever else you have and exposes everything. Valencia doesn’t have a sound/flavor, it’s just a gigachad sitting there making sure you can drive whatever headphone you have and presenting every detail that exists in your chain unobstructed.
If you have Tungsten I feel like Valencia should be mandatory. Tungsten DS is it’s own kind of special and combined with Valencia is nothing short of mindblowing. I haven’t had this combo long but I’ve been in the headphone enthusiast community for about 10 years so I have some experience. Tungsten with Valencia honestly feels like a drug. I’ve had a lot of gear I’ve really enjoyed over the years but this is absolutely next level. I’m really looking forward to trying different dacs and amps with Valencia as it makes it easier to hear the differences in your chain.
If you have any other headphones that are difficult to drive and want to make sure you’re getting every bit of performance out of them this will do it. It’s a nice, clean design and while it’s not particularly heavy it does feel robust. Quality of the device itself across the board is top notch. And as I and others have mentioned Valencia does not flavor/alter the sound at all. This just adds all the power you could ever need.
I will say it’s a little weird at first having a headphone amp without a volume pot. But once you get everything setup correctly it just works. You do need to be very careful with this device though. I highly recommend watching Z’s review/announcement for Valencia as there are a number of items that are important to have to make sure you balance things appropriately like attenuators and the ifi IEmatch. You can literally run anything on Valencia from sensitive iems (using the mentioned attenuators and IEMatch) to, well, Tungsten.
I can’t say enough good things about a device that literally has no “flavor”. This won’t make your music sound better/cleaner/warmer/etc, it just makes sure that you’re able to get every ounce of performance out of what you have no matter how difficult it is to drive.
Sorry for the book but this really is the last headphone amp you’ll ever need.

I was able to spend a couple hours with this amp at Capital Audio Fest and again a headphone meet near Philadelphia. This is something special. Never have I heard an amp that could drive Tungsten effortlessly! Not once in my listening did the Valencia have a hint of struggling to power the ModHouse Tungstens to their peak performance, never have I heard them with such amazing dynamics! I also tried IEMs on this monster. With an iFi iEmatch on the output, it was tamed perfectly well enough to drive my Unique Melody Mest MKII with extreme clarity. Having IEMs in also gave me an opportunity to listen for any noise. Nothing, not even the slightest bit of noise, Valencia is dead silent. So you may be asking, what DOES the Valencia sound like? Nothing! It has no flavor of its own. Like other Orchard Audio products, its like a wire with gain. The flavor of your sound comes from the other components in the chain. With a good preamp and dac, this is the last headphone amp you’ll ever need. What a pleasure!!
