All About the Orchard Audio Mono Premium GaNM Power Amp …
The Starkrimson 25 Mono Premium represents a new benchmark in compact, high-performance amplification. Designed for discerning audiophiles, recording professionals, and music lovers who refuse to compromise, it delivers exceptional resolution, lifelike dynamics, and effortless control across every genre. Powered by next-generation gallium nitride megahertz (GaNM) technology, switching at 1.1 MHz, and a fully balanced signal path from input to output, this monoblock amplifier delivers speed, precision, and transparency beyond traditional designs. Its advanced proprietary dual feedback architecture unlocks a level of clarity and musicality that redefines what’s possible from an amplifier of its size.
What Makes the Orchard Audio Starkrimson 25 GaNM Power Amp Special?
Orchard Audio took everything great about the original Starkrimson amplifier and rethought it from the ground up. The result is a next-generation design that improves frequency performance, reduces distortion, and delivers a cleaner, more transparent signal.
Here’s a snapshot of the key performance highlights:
- 150 W into 8 Ω / 200 W into 4 Ω — ample power for most high-fidelity loudspeakers.
- Fully balanced signal path from input to output for low-noise, super-clean amplification.
- GaNM transistor technology for high switching speed and detailed transient response.
- User-selectable gain (21.5 dB or 16.8 dB) via internal jumpers for system matching.
- 2-ohm capable operation for demanding loads.
- Universal AC input (90–264 VAC) — ready for global use.
- Compact footprint (11ʺ × 6.1ʺ × 3.1ʺ) and lightweight (5.5 lbs) construction make placement and installation easy.
This combination of power, precision, and practical design makes the Starkrimson 25 a standout choice in today’s crowded amplifier market. It isn’t just about raw watts — it’s about how those watts translate into musical realism.
Designed for Real-World Music Lovers
While some high-end gear prioritizes looks and/orspecs over musicality, Orchard Audio’s approach balances both. The Starkrimson 25’s GaNM-based Class-D design delivers extremely low noise, combined with low distortion and impressive transient response — giving you clarity and control without heat or wasted power.
Because it’s fully balanced from input to output and built with a modern proprietary dual-feedback design, the Starkrimson 25 doesn’t just produce power — it preserves the nuance and texture of your recordings. Reviews and listening reports highlight its ability to bring out micro-detail and layering in music that can get lost in lesser amps.
Whether you’re listening to jazz, classical, rock, or electronica, this amplifier stays composed and musical through complex passages.
How the Orchard Audio Starkrimson 25 GaNM Power Amp Fits Into Your Audiophile System
The Orchard Audio Starkrimson 25 is designed to integrate smoothly with balanced preamplifiers and sources. Orchard Audio intentionally focused on balanced XLR connectivity to maintain signal integrity, but an RCA-to-XLR converteris readily available if needed.
Its compact size means you can place a pair of monoblocks near your speakers for short speaker cable runs — a setup that often improves sound quality and lowers noise.
The Reviewers Are Raving About the Orchard Audio Starkrimson 25 GaNM Power Amp
The audiophile press is raving about the Orchard Audio Starkrimson 25 GaNM Power Amp. Here’s what they have to say…
Gerardo A – vAudio Architect (January 2025)
“Service, Support and an excellent value product, as good as the big players, even better,r mind you.”
Doug Moore – The Sound Advocate (October 2025)
“The Starkrimson 25 Monos were an awe-inspiring set of amplifiers that demonstrated to me how far we have come in the last few years of amplifier design. They were fantastically dynamic when needed, offering a wealth of neutrality that let the instruments speak for themselves, and allowed my reference OB speakers to work their magic to the best of their ability. At $2,500 per pair, I can’t think of a better set of amplifiers at that price. They perform well enough that you have to ask yourself if spending more will really yield you any better enjoyment of the music you love, and that is the point, isn’t it! To enjoy the music we love.”
Read Andrew Dewhirst’s review of the Orchard Starkrimson 25 Mono Premium from November, 2025
“The Orchard Audio Starkrimson 25 Mono Premium amplifiers truly are game-changers in the audiophile industry, to the point that I think many people should strongly consider looking at GaNFET amplifiers like these moving forward as the first thing they contemplate, instead of, say, more traditional Class-A/B designs. The combination of power, low heat, and low weight to go along with sound that comes close to what you might pay for from an amp that is four times more expensive, is one that I can say I haven’t run into in quite some time. I will have to really consider if I wish to send the Starkrimson 25 Mono Premium amplifiers back to Orchard Audio, as they really are that good.”

Heard these at an audio expo, went home, got online, and bought a pair. They replace another well-known, great power amp in my system and sound even better, especially at volume. Exceptional product at an amazing value. I don’t know why someone would buy anything else. They punch way above their weight.

This was an upgrade from a pair of topping B200 amps. I noticed an improved soundstage and base response immediately, but as the burned in they just continued to improve. I’m truly impressed with the performance of these amps.

As an owner of Starkrimson 25 Mono amps, I had the opportunity to audition a pair of the new Rolling Buffer Upgrade version w/ Sparkos SS3602 op amps in the buffer. I’ll have to say that I didn’t expect there to be much if any difference. Having upgraded my Mono’s to 25 Mono’s roughly a year ago, I was already enjoying a pair of very natural sounding amplifiers. With the 25 mono’s generous delivery of “air”, ambience and realistic portrayal of recorded space, I thought that adding a “socket” with “plug-in” boutique op amps would likely be superfluous if not deleterious. Being an “old guy”, I figured that the popularity of such activities as (op amp rolling) with some popular “cheap amps” was centered around youthful audiophiles deluding themselves to save a buck while picking a coloration of choice.
There is no delusion here. Side by side the difference between the 25 mono amps with and without the buffer was as clear as could be. The buffer with SS3602 op amp delivered a solid upgrade to the sound of the 25 mono amps. To make what could be a very long review short and sweet, the sound changed in four key ways. 1) There was an ever so slight warming of the timbre which also lent a slightly ‘softer’ shading to the top end (piano and violin overtones, “air” around cymbals, etc. ); 2) There was a bit more oomph to the “body” of the sound of all instruments. For example” the sound of the air moving through the sousaphone (Dirty Dozen Brass Band – “Feet Can’t Fail Me Now” – Our New Orleans), and the Chuff of the attack envelope on the Pipe Organ Pedal Tones (K C Symphony, “Symphony #3 – Organ by Saint-Saen’s”, Reference Recordings), and the palpable presence of strings making contact with the finger board and the gut feel of the resonance of the instrument on the Acoustic Bass solo (Harry James – “More Spluty Please” – The King James Version). These were tactile things that were “felt” and heard. 3) the added “information” yielded not only the precise imaging of the 25 mono, but also a larger and more evident picture of the recorded space that resulted in a wider and deeper soundstage. For example: the depth of the choir stretched a good 12 feet further back with additional voices and layers emerging during the Pie Jesu (Rutter – “Pie Jesu”- John Rutter Requiem on Reference Recordings) when compared to the apparent soundstage rendered by the 25 Mono’s w/o buffer. On the Harry James “More Spluty Please” track the Trombones moved further back and further right by about 4 feet, the drums moved back a good 6 feet and the Piano moved a good 6 feet to the left and 4- 6 feet forward all resulting in a soundstage that spread from what seemed to be 8 feet to the right of my RH speaker and 8 – 10 feet to the Left of my LH speaker while also extending some 12 feet behind my front wall and occupying everything in between . . . . . and extending forward out into the room! The Piano was not only a good 8 – 10 feet Left of my LH speaker but it was a good 6 feet in front of the plane between my L & R speakers !!! The Piano was in my back yard almost 90 degrees left of my listening chair – Astounding, and hard to explain. I had to check that one by putting the 25 Mono’s w/o buffer back into my system. Inserting the Amp w/o buffer – Piano was some 4 ft. left and 2 ft. in front of the LH speaker which is amazing, but short of what the samd Amp w/buffer delivers. Reverb tails on tracks like “Birds” (Dominique Fils-Aime’, Nameless), “Ride Across the River” (Dire Straits – Money For Nothing), “Mozart Ave Verum” (Chesky – Audiogon Presents Sampler), and the “Pie Jesu” mentioned above, were all longer and mysteriously more “integrated” into a wholistic and organic presentation of the music being performed in a room – live. Thus the #4) key difference was/is the ease with which the Buffer Version rendered a relaxed vision of the recorded space. It required no effort and no mental processing. The big, warm and open sound of the music residing in the space in which it was recorded was natural and easily accessible. This is a special quality rarely heard in electronics in this price range. These are easily the best amplifiers I have heard in my system,
and quite possibly right up there with some legendary giants that I have only heard at large audio shows.
Yes, I like this amplifier. Setting what ASR has had to say about these (and other) boutique op amps aside, the Sparkos op amps had a significant and beneficial impact on the subjective listening experience in my audio system. Is it a coloration or distortion or is it better reproduction of ALL that is there? I don’t know and I don’t care – they sound great. This is a highly recommended upgrade !!!
Please Note: The 25 Mono amp (with and w/o buffer) are used to drive my LFT dipole panels from 70Hz on up through 40 kHz. I cannot offer an opinion on the character of either amp below 70 Hz.

Initially, the Starkrimson 25 didn’t exactly wow me.
Swapping out my NAD C298, the immediate takeaway was indeed “crystal clear” mids and highs along with an expanded soundstage, but the bass was noticeably lacking. Over the course of two months, I tried a lot of things to fix the bass , like using long XLRs and short speaker cables to place the amps as close to the speakers as possible—but the improvements were marginal.
Then, work got in the way. I left the system powered on but didn’t have a chance to listen for nearly 40 days. When I finally sat down for a session during the holidays, the transformation was night and day. The bass had fully returned—deep, immersive, and refined.
Combined with the stellar high/mid performance I already loved, I can now say without hesitation that this is a true upgrade from the NAD C298.
Great job, Leo!

I bought one to power my center channel KEF in-wall amplifier. This amplifier and the KEF are a perfect match. I get all the details I want from my movies without the need for another large amplifier taking up space. I just wish the amplifier had a 12v trigger, but other than that, it is an amazing amplifier. In addition, customer service is great, and Leo is responsive to queries.

Let me first say that Leo has done an outstanding job of developing audiophile grade amplifiers. The technology incorporated with the Starkrimson 25 monoblock is extremely close to a class A/B amp in regards to warmth and soundstage, with an improvement in clarity from the Starkrimson’s.
My only negative attribute of the Starkrimson 25 is one of a personal preference nature. I found out that i actually prefer a little smear to my music listening verses extreme clarity. Refinement is a good attribute for those that seek every note of a song sounding perfect. To me that was the only drawback. Soundstage was wide but not as deep compared to other amps in the A/AB offering.
Overall I was very impressed and gave it five stars based on the technology and capabilities. Unfortunately these are just not for me. Thank you to Leo for allowing a demo and refund, it was worth every minute.

. . . . You want a great sound from your System! Seriously, I am more than pleased with my SK25 Mono-Block amps. I am also grateful that there is a 30 day trial. I have no way to listen to great audio equipment unless I can try components with a trial period. I have been looking for amp performance like this for years. I had given up. BUT. . . THEN. . . . Leo created this.
I humbly submit that this kind of amp design will become mainstream. Why do I say this? Because I have tried many top shelf class “A” SS and “valve amps” over 8 years. . None sound as good as the SK 25 to my ears anyway. Try them, you have nothing to loose!
I also learned that some so called experts think you have to have a linear power supply for big and full sound, My speakers are about 95% efficient. Sounds like a live performance to me! How do you improve on that?
Listen up. . . . there is a lot of gratuitous Bravo Sierra out there. Think about what they are saying. From my point of view, Leo’s products are honest and trustworthy. Give them a try. I think you have a really good chance to find audio nirvana as I have. Thank You Leo!

it’s been a while since i was thinking of pulling the trigger on these. I have been testing amplifiers for a long time from all types. I always had a sweet spot for pure class A. I have 3 systems in my house and i’ve tested the amps in all of them and behold, the 25 made every single system sound better. the only one that came close is the Sudgen pure Class A. the sinergy between the Orchard and the mcintosh c2200 valve preamp is amazing. you would never guess you were listening to a Class D amp. every detail is there surrounded by air but most impressively, the silence, its strange to say that you have air and silence but just give it a go and you´ll see what i mean. they are already my numer one.

I’ve had my Starkrimson 25s for about 6 weeks now. I’m usually not one to write reviews for products I’ve purchased, but I decided to throw caution to the wind in this case! The more I listen to them the happier I am with my purchase. These are incredible amps – clean, powerful, detailed etc. I’m using them to power Philharmonic HT Towers through a Marantz AV10 and Eversolo DMP-A8. No need to spend more on amps, these are end game for me.

I am using the built-in preamp of the M3 DAC & Network Player (with a Sarum T power cable), connected via Neptune Diamond XLR, and the amplifier is powered by a Furutech TCS-31 power cable with Richbay carbon gold connectors.
I had many concerns.
Using a Class D amplifier without a dedicated preamp—relying solely on the DAC’s preamp function—and with what could be considered an entry-level power cable, I worried the sound might be overly digital.
After listening, however, those concerns proved unnecessary.
The sound is smooth, the depth is deep, and there is power to spare.
Even at low volume, the soundstage remains intact.
When the system was first powered on, the soundstage felt narrow, with depth standing out more than width,
but as time passed, the soundstage gradually opened up.

The best investment I’ve made in my recent purchase of a brand new 2. 2 system after a 25 year hiatus. It was the last purchase and beautifully tied everything in. Now my journey is over and I couldn’t be happier but it wouldn’t be the case without the Ochard Audio phenomenal monoblocks. Last time I was this content was with my previous 2. 2 system that also took me a year to consolidate. Leo is an absolute genius and his prices and customer service are phenomenal. Thank you so much Leo.

First off, let me say that I believe Gan technology will revolutionize all electronics due to its much higher efficiencies. What it does for music is that it more fully reproduces the original sonic waveform, allowing us to hear more deeply into the source. For the first time, I can listen for hours without fatigue and gain a greater understanding of the music at the same time. These amplifiers are game changers and a good value. Highly recommended.

I was already thrilled with the previous model, but the enthusiastic feedback from other owners convinced me to try the upgrade — and I’m glad I did. Compared to the previous Premium model, the Orchard Audio Starkrimson 25 Premium delivers a noticeably wider and deeper soundstage, with faster and more precise transients. Bass response is tighter and more controlled, while high frequencies are smoother and more refined, lending the overall presentation a greater sense of naturalness and ease.

I’ve had the SK25s for a few weeks and I’m very impressed. I use a reference-grade DAC, feeding the SK25s directly. Lots of detail, dynamics, and very good imaging. They are very transparent, adding no coloration to the source audio. SK25s are truly a ‘straight wire with gain’, which is exactly what I wanted. And I appreciate Leo’s approach to design: exceptional performance with minimal ‘audiophile window-dressing’. It makes world-class performance attainable and enjoyable by all audiophiles, not just the “one-per cent-ers”. Congrats on a fantastic product.

. . . . after years of using and enjoying tubes, it was time for a change, I came across NaG technology in one of the audio magazines. I slowly became interested in this field. I found a few reviews and descriptions, and so I came across Orchard Audio. And here my decision was made to buy Starkrimson mono 25 amplifiers. I was a bit reserved about this purchase, but it quickly turned out that I hit the nail on the head, these are phenomenal amplifiers, practically in every respect. Completely without any hums, noise, etc. The purity and dynamics are unmatched, the low octaves are incredibly fast and controlled, very coherent and precise. The articulation of the human voice in various musical materials is perfect, very rich holography and sound structure, makes my m10 Falcon Acoustics monitors disappear from the room . The high tones are fabulous, the fact of the sound balance is striking, there is absolutely nothing missing here. After almost a month of listening to these amplifiers, I am sure that there is no going back to tubes. If someone is looking for the sound of electron tubes in equipment, they should pay attention to these monoblock 25, you can also add, if you insist on a tube, there is always the possibility of entering a tube preamplifier, buffer, etc. in the path. Although I do not think I would need it. Finally, just a mention that the price of these amplifiers is absolutely adequate to the sound they reproduce, unless you can afford a few thousand dollars in class A and fees for energy and a healthy back to move, here there are no such things, and the sound remains exactly the same. You can always nitpick about trifles, but as I write, it’s just a matter of personal preferences. I highly recommend it 🎶🎵🔈‼️

I cant say I had many class D amps in the past but compared to even some very excellent class D amps years ago that I use to own I think this new GAN tech really makes a difference and hence worth looking. Sound is subjective but to me this amp holds up very well to my Kinki monoblocks and parasound AB power amplifers. The tightness in bass is the biggest improvement from my other amps plus the small compact size and universal voltage are other quality of life improvements I get with this product.

The Starkrimson 25 reminds me of why I fell in love with the Orchard Audio sound 5 years ago. NAF but with more power and more detail, soundstage, and now Bass output better than the OG Starkrimson.

Outstandingly transparent sound – lifelike impulse response too. I need to rediscover my whole music library now! In my 8 channel open baffle stereo I have two pairs of Mono 25’s, a pair for my tweeters and a pair for my upper midranges. The mid-bass is handled by a pair of Mono Ultras, the subs are servo plate amps.

I was able to demo a pair of the new 25 mono’s from Orchard, and compared them to my Duo stereo unit as well as another class D amp in two different systems.
Some key improvements over the Duo:
* Larger soundstage (especially depth) and sense of space, with each instrument/voice more isolated in that space
* Even more bass control, depth, and definition
* The above-mentioned pinpoint definition of voice and instruments results in more clarity and greater sense of the proverbial “you are there” (or “they are here”)
* Sounds hidden away more in the background become more clear/apparent despite the depth of the mix
* The improvements in bass carries through to the dynamics in the mids too; closely mic’d piano sounds just amazing!
Some of these improvements may be from having mono’s with separate power supplies. But having also owned the original Starkimson mono’s with brick PS’s, I can definitely say these 25’s are a strong improvement.
I also compared the 25’s in another even more resolving system, using a modified Class D amp with Purifi modules. The 25’s were on par or better than that reference, and now occupy the place in that system. The improvements were most evident again in soundstage and imaging within, as well as the midrange dynamics. Again that piano music. . . stunning!
If you’re looking for the next step up from the already-great Starkrimson’s these new 25’s are very well worth it!
