Out of the box great. I need to look up to see if these amps typically need a burn in period? how many hours. etc. Im also burning in a Bluesound Icon and some Closure Acoustics speakers all at once. . . . . . . so it will be interesting to see how this all comes to life.

Thanks for the feedback, Tim. The burn in if any is no more than 24 hours. Enjoy!

Starkrimson Duo exceeded all my expectations. I have never experienced such a low noise background and such a great channel separation and tone decay. Replay is well balanced, timber is extremely natural and soundstage dimensions are huge, really huge. Highly satisfied!
Great paring with Cyan2 (dac), Burson Soloist 3XP (pre-amp) and Elac UBR62 Reference speakers.

I have been a huge fan of orchard audio since discovering them a few years back. I started with the PecanPi rev 3 (which is now my dedicated headphone amp) Then I purchased the pecanPi Premium which took the sound up a notch. Now I’ve added the Duo power amp and absolutely love the combo. The sound digs deep into the music, making my open baffles sing and found fuller especially in the bass. It has a very smooth sound that I enjoy and can listen to music for long periods. I highly recommend any product from Leo. He’s a top notch guy making top notch gear!

I am over the moon (a.k.a. “extremely happy”) with my purchase of the 150 watt Trio – Triple Mono with the 21.5 dB gain. Wow. More like Triple Wow! It’s three mono amps, each with their own separate 150 watts of clean, linear, strength. I’m getting low volume detail and clarity, and effortless linear manhandling at high volumes. It is three monoblocks in one gorgeously slim and simple formfactor that is perfectly feeding my Klipsch Forte IV speakers R & L along with my Klipsch RP450C center speaker (soon to be upgraded to another Klipsch Forte IV as my center speaker). It’s like this amp was designed for my system. I haven’t noticed any noise or distortion. And, my speakers sound better – it’s stark. Leo is the real deal, and he is super nice, responsive and accommodating. As my system evolves, I will go back to Orchard as my first choice for anything.

I recently upgraded my Philharmonic BMR1’s to the BMR2’s. For some reason, the BMR2’s didn’t sound all that great on my tube pre/ICE power integrated amp. (The BMR1’s pair well with that setup).
A friend of mine loaned me a Mini GaN5. It sounded better than ICE amp from the integrated. I used the tube pre out to the Mini GaN.
I purchased an Eversolo DMP-A8 to front end the Mini GaN. The pairing sounded very good, but still not “there”.
My travels brought me through NJ. I noticed Orchard was having a sale if you stopped in for an audition. I called Leo and did just that.
Leo assured me that the Duo would sound better than the Mini GaN. I took his word for it and purchased the Duo.
I installed it and let it “burn in” for a couple days and all I can say is that this amp is phenomenal!
Bass – midrange – treble is all there. Soundstage is deeper, wider, with amazing clarity. I do not miss the tube preamp section of my integrated.
If I had to nitpick, I am missing the 12v trigger, but so what? This amp exceeds my expectations by a long shot!

Thanks so much for the in-depth review! It’s fantastic to hear how the Starkrimson Duo completely transformed your listening experience with the Philharmonic BMR2s. The wider soundstage, clarity, and ability to handle the increased demands of those speakers compared to your previous setup sound like incredible improvements. We appreciate you acknowledging Leo’s expertise as well.

The Duo replaced some well regarded mono amps in my system and there is no comparison. The Duo is far superior. Bass is vastly improved, but so is the depth, soundstage and detail.
A very worthwhile upgrade.

After much research and deliberation I decided to pull the trigger and purchase the Duo. My main goal in looking at a class D amp was to save $ on electricity without making any real sound compromises.
My system consisted of a Parasound JC2BP preamp, Parasound A21, and a PS Audio Directstream dac, PSB Imagine T2 speakers. I was happy with the A21 but I like the Duo better. Really clean sounding. All the tonality is as it should be. Blacker background . The low gain of the unit requires turning the volume up more than before to get a comparable sound level but my preamp can drive it with no problems; I rarely push the volume past 75 dbs anyway. Good work Leo!

I’ve been fortunate enough to experience audio equipment of various calibers over the years, but the Starkrimson Duo has truly left me in awe. This is not just another amplifier; it’s a next-generation masterpiece that redefines what we can expect from our audio systems.
The audio performance of the Starkrimson Duo is nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment I plugged it in and started listening, I was immediately captivated by the sheer clarity, precision, and depth it delivered. Every note, every instrument, and every vocal is reproduced with an unparalleled level of detail and nuance. The soundstage is expansive, and the separation of instruments is impeccable, making every piece of music a captivating journey.
What truly sets the Starkrimson Duo apart is its implementation of GaNFETs. This technology is not just a buzzword; it’s a game-changer. The GaNFETs in this amplifier are the heart and soul of its exceptional performance. They provide an astonishing level of control and power efficiency that results in a remarkably clean and dynamic sound. The bass is tight and authoritative, the midrange is lush and textured, and the highs are crystal clear without a hint of harshness.
It’s evident that Orchard Audio has spared no effort in perfecting the Starkrimson Duo. The craftsmanship and attention to detail are exceptional, and it’s clear that this amplifier is built to stand the test of time.
In conclusion, the Starkrimson Duo is not just a piece of audio equipment; it’s a sonic marvel that sets a new standard in audio performance. If you’re passionate about music and demand the best, I wholeheartedly recommend the Starkrimson Duo. It’s an investment in your audio journey that you won’t regret. Orchard Audio has truly created something special here, and I couldn’t be more thrilled with the experience it has brought to my listening room. Bravo!

Leo, after our discussion at the Florida International Audio Fest, I am so glad that you built a three-channel amplifier, the Duo/Trio. Just having a single power cord to get your amplification over three mono amps with power supplies and power cords is a great help. More importantly, it goes extremely well with the tube amplifier used for my front speakers. I think the GanFet class D works well for the other three speakers because it matches closely to the power rating of the tube amp, adds clarity to the center channel, and balances the frequency in the rear speakers, without competing with the front speaker pair. I also think that the use of the RCA to XLR converters are important to use instead of RCA to XLR cables/adapters. The increase of 8 dB improves the sound and allows the Duo/Trio to work optimally. Why buy an amplifier and then not use it to its full capacity? Anyone who wants to purchase this three-channel amp, or any other of your amps, should seriously consider adding these converters to their system. To this point, I like the converters so much that I am ordering a third for my tube amplifier to ensure that I am getting a fully balanced performance. Great job all around, thank you for taking the plunge. I hope this amplifier helps all of those people looking to upgrade their amplifiers using an Audio Video Receiver or processor, including those with tube front channels.
